Our Curriculum + philosophy: Raising Royalty

Mentor2Youth, bridging opportunity gaps with Youth Empowerment, Family Involvement, and Community Collaboration. Our Raising Royalty model is a holistic approach that introduces students from historically underserved backgrounds to the game of chess as a strategic framework. One is able to fulfill their potential through the exercising of six moves that reveal our Royalty. Through the developmental Relationship framework, we provide External Assets (Support, Empowerment, Boundaries & Expectations, & Constructive Use of Time) which produces Internal Assets (Commitment to Learning, Positive Values, Social Competencies, & Positive Identity) in our young people. These assets are the building blocks of a productive life.

When folks are unable to fulfill their potential, we all suffer. Parents should attend graduations and baby showers, not prisons, or funerals. There is a pathway to maturity that our Raising Royalty model unfolds, developing empowered, nurtured youth, families, and mentors, living healthy lives, with rewarding careers which then foster thriving neighborhoods and communities.

By 2027, this community manifestation will look like 300 young people, 200 parents, and 100 businesses.

The work we are accomplishing cannot be done alone. It’s important for people to support local organizations like M2Y because we are giving underserved young people in our community essential resources and an opportunity to be their best selves. We hope everyone that supports Mentor2Youth knows their contribution is a bold step towards the fulfillment of their own purpose along with Mentor2Youth's.

Kids do better when families are engaged and connected. We help to foster a safe and supportive environment. Parent 2 Village (P2V) will serve as a collaborative and supportive vehicle for African-American and underserved students of color and their parents.

B.O.S.S. INTERNS

Youth Internships are a way of helping students understand the relevance of academics in relation to what it takes to be successful in the workplace. Without this vital connection, many young people may not know why basic skills are important or know how complex a job can be. Through working with an adult mentor at the worksite, students have the opportunity to develop a foundation of general workplace skills and to acquire information and skills in their chosen career cluster/pathway.
